Dear colleagues,
I look forward to celebrating the achievements of our students at the upcoming commencement ceremonies.
I hope that you will have a chance to join in congratulating the class of 2024, which includes more than 11,000 students.
Spring brings warmer weather, and faculty awards! Adriana Darielle Mejía Briscoe Elected to the National Academy of Sciences
Adriana Darielle Mejía Briscoe, Professor, Ecology and Evolutionary Biology, has been elected to the National Academy of Sciences. Known for her work on the sensory ecology of butterflies, Professor Briscoe's lab uses butterflies to examine how color vision mediates ecological interactions between butterflies, host plants, and the environment in the context of mimicry and species recognition. Professor Briscoe conducts field and laboratory research that spans genetics, physiology, and behavior to further our understanding of butterflies' visual and temperature adaptations to climate change. UCI now has 24 members of the National Academy of Sciences.
