Dear colleagues,
Spring, and spring quarter, have arrived with hopes for a successful end to the academic year.
UCI faculty members continue to earn notable recognitions for their academic contributions. Recent honorees include Fan-Gang Zeng, who was elected to the National Academy of Engineering; Kei Igarashi, who received the Japan Academy Medal; and six faculty who were named Fellows of the American Association for the Advancement of Science.
The campus recently launched programs to enhance student success and learning outcomes by promoting teaching excellence and leveraging student data. Several efforts are described below under the Student Success heading.
Managing the budget deficit and implementation of the recent labor agreements have made for a challenging year. Please know that I appreciate your dedication and hard work and hope you have a productive quarter.
